Biography

Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

Dr. Sami Muhaidat received his PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, in 2006. From 2007 to 2008, he was an NSERC postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto, Canada. From 2008-2012, he was an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering Science, Simon Fraser University, BC, Canada. He is currently a Full Professor at Khalifa University.

Dr. Sami's research interests focus on the following two related areas: 1) communication theory with particular emphasis on the physical layer aspects of wireless communication networks, and 2) machine learning and their applications in the field of wireless networks. Sami made seminal contributions in the areas of low power wireless networks, cognitive radio networks, MIMO, cooperative communication networks, optical communications, wireless power transfer, hardware impairments, mmWave, and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) for 5G and beyond (5GB) networks

Dr. Muhaidat is currently an Area Editor for IEEE Transactions on Communications. He served as a Senior Editor for IEEE Communications Letters, an Editor for IEEE Transactions on Communications, and an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. He is a member of Mohammed Bin Rashid Academy of scientists.
