Dr. Shaya received his MSc in Synthesis, Catalysis and Sustainable chemistry from University of Lyon, France and his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from University of Nice, France with honor distinction in 2016. He pursued postdoctoral fellowships at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, and University of Strasbourg, France in collaboration with Kyushu University, Japan till 2019. He was appointed as a senior lecturer of chemistry at Khalifa University in 2019 and completed a postdoctoral degree in Artificial intelligence and Machine learning from University of Texas at Austin, USA. Dr. Shaya joined the Chemistry department at KU in 2023 as assistant professor. He has published in high impact factor journals including Angewandte, Nucleic Acid Research, Oxford, Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology, and ACS chemical biology. His research interests involve organometallic chemistry and catalytic methods and their applications in environmental chemistry and in designing new fluorescent probes and two-photon absorption materials for biological detections such as DNA and lipid probes.
