Aerial Robotics (an outdoor area and an indoor lab-C00060) – Theme 2
KUCARS has well-established UAV labs for the development and testing of perception, control, and planning algorithms. KUCARS has two indoor UAV flight testing labs, where a customized flight software stack can be used to fly custom UAVs. One of the labs is equipped with a motion capture system with nine OptiTrack Prime 17 cameras, while the other is equipped with a motion capture system with twenty-four Primex 22 cameras with a flight volume of 216 m3. The custom flight stack can be used to prototype UAVs with on-board vision, SLAM, fault-tolerant propulsion, and other capabilities. We also have access to high-performance computing (HPC) clusters for AI training. Â The KU low-speed wind tunnel facility will provide experimental validation of the robustness of the developed drone systems under external disturbances.
