The Heat Transfer Laboratory at Khalifa University, part of the Emirates Nuclear Technology Center (ENTC), focuses on advancing research in nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulics and safety analysis. The lab features state-of-the-art experimental setups, including facilities for studying reflux condensation, flow boiling, and baffle jetting phenomena. Alongside experimental research, the team utilizes and validates advanced computational tools, such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and system codes, with the aim of enhancing their ability to predict physical phenomena in these flow regimes. Machine learning techniques are also integrated to further improve predictive accuracy. The laboratory plays a key role in education by providing specialized experimental units for students, such as pool boiling and convective boiling demonstration setups, offering valuable hands-on learning experiences. These facilities support groundbreaking research, optimize reactor performance, enhance safety margins, and contribute to the education and training of future engineers.
