Dr. Asli Hassan is the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Prior to coming to the UAE, she taught English and trained language and content teachers in the US. Her most recent publications are all related to developing higher-order thinking skills and academic success for English language learners.
Dr. Hassan has been a teacher trainer in the US and most recently led a multi-phased US State Department sponsored curriculum development and teacher-training project in Mexico. Dr. Asli is an engaging, multilingual educator devoted to research that impacts student learning and innovative professional development programs. She has over twenty years of teaching and teacher training experiences in the USA and internationally. She is a collaborative team player and a mentor who is focused on working closely with administration, professors, teaching assistants and students to continuously strive for educational excellence at KU.
Dr. Hassan is a multilingual educator whose research focuses on student learning and innovative professional development programs. In the last few years she has published papers on the development of higher order thinking skills among engineering students, and students’ learning styles and ways to develop academic success among college students. She has conducted two RIFP-funded research projects on the development of higher order thinking skills, in addition to journal articles and conference proceedings.
