Description
The Life Sciences Club co-organized the inaugural Science Festival with the Biological Sciences Department. This event introduced the Cell & Molecular Biology Major as well as the Biological Sciences department by showcasing various experiments taken in courses like Developmental Biology, Physiology, and Genetics. Additionally, visitors had the opportunity to participate in hands-on experiments to learn how to analyze histology slides through microscopy as well as learn the pipetting techniques. Overall, school students and faculty learned about the requirements for the programs of the Biological Sciences department and the intricate practical experiments involved.
Number of attendees/audience
Over 50 people visited the booth which were high school students, teachers, university students and faculty members. The event was open to the public.
Notable achievements and outcomes
Students engaged in the hands-on histology art station which enriched their knowledge on the complex human anatomy. Additionally, students were taught pipetting techniques. The event’s success was evident as the visitors actively engaged with KU faculty and students, asking questions and gaining insights into the field of biology.The officers and volunteers of this event earned a certificate of appreciation from the Biological Sciences Department.
