Ioannis Mikes is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow specialising in structural and earthquake engineering, with a focus on nonlinear modelling and analysis of bridges. Before joining Khalifa University, Ioannis earned a PhD from City, University of London, with a dissertation on “Optimisation of Dynamic Response of Bridges through Control of Gap Sizes” (First supervisor: Prof. Andreas J. Kappos, Khalifa University) and an MSc in Seismic Design of Structures from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. From 2020 to 2022, he served as a Research Associate at Khalifa University, contributing to the “Feasibility of the Dynamic Intelligent Bridge” research project. He also brings four years of experience as a practicing civil engineer, where he was involved in structural analysis, design, and construction management of buildings.
