Biography

Lisa Kassem is an accomplished educator, having received awards for her exemplary teaching, academic advising, and service at Zayed University and the Higher Ðǿմ«Ã½ of Technology. Since beginning her teaching career in 2008, she has prioritized students' growth and success as the cornerstone of her endeavors, placing their development at the forefront of her work. She has taught courses in composition and rhetoric, classical antiquity, colonial contact, research methods and future foresight.


In addition to teaching, Lisa has led content development projects for the Government of Canada and IBM. As Co-Chair, she was part of the leadership team that supported Zayed University's Department of Writing Studies transition to a program with a focus on composition and rhetoric.


Lisa holds a Master of Arts in English Literature and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Carleton University and is currently studying psychology.


Lisa has a hyphenated identity. She speaks English, French and Arabic, and considers the UAE home. During her spare time, when not researching random topics that pique her curiosity, she goes hiking, camping, cycling and feeding stray cats. She is also a regular volunteer with the Emirates World Wildlife Fund and the Fred Hollows Foundation.
