Dr. Shakil Najir Afraj received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan in 2016. Later, Dr. Shakil worked as postdoctoral research fellow at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan (2016), National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine, Taiwan (2017-2018), and National Central University, Taiwan (2018-2023). In 2023 Dr. Shakil became a Research Scientist at Khalifa University, UAE. During his doctoral and postdoctoral tenure, he has worked in various research fields such as, development of metal catalyzed organic synthetic methods for synthesis of novel heterocyclic/drug like molecules for medicinal chemistry applications. Design and synthesis of novel organic molecules, and study their structure activity relationship (SAR) for anticancer activity. Design and synthesis of potentials pi-extended organic frameworks/semiconductors for the organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), perovskite solar cells (PSCs) and organic photovoltaics (OPVs) applications. Dr. Shakil has co-authored publications in high impact factor journals covering chemistry, materials science and energy applications including ACS Energy Letters, ACS Nano, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Advanced Functional Materials, Advanced Science.
