Timothy Nicoll brings more than 20 years of tertiary education experience in Europe, East Asia, North America and the Gulf to his role as Senior Lecturer at Khalifa University. In addition to his specialist knowledge of English for Academic Purposes, and Business Communication, Timothy has a strong interdisciplinary background with postgraduate degrees in Applied Linguistics; Higher Education Research, Innovation and Enhancement; and Political Economy. He has presented and published domestically and internationally on topics such as genre pedagogy, student identity, extensive reading and educational technology. In addition to his wide teaching experience, Timothy has also held a range of managerial positions; is a qualified teacher trainer; has examined for the most highly respected international testing bodies; and has worked on a number of major curriculum redevelopment projects. His current research interests focus on student motivation and reading in higher education.
