This project focuses on the development of electro spun cellulose-based materials for the effective separation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air, specifically in the form of face masks. The main objectives include: Development of a Green Solvent-Based Recipe for Cellulose Dissolution: The project aims to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution for dissolving cellulose using green solvents, suitable for the electrospinning process. This will ensure that the production of cellulose-based materials remains eco-friendly while maintaining performance. Creation of Functionalized Electrospun Sheets for VOC Removal: The project will focus on functionalizing electrospun cellulose nanofibers to enhance their adsorption and filtration properties for VOCs. These functionalized nanofiber sheets will be designed to be incorporated into face masks, providing an efficient means of air purification by capturing harmful VOCs from inhaled air. The outcome of this project will be the design of an eco-friendly, high-performance material that can be used by members of the society with respiratory problems to improve air quality and promote sustainable solutions for environmental protection.
Develop a recipe for dissolving cellulose using green solvents and electrospinning into sheets for the effective separation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air.
Student needs to be punctual, regards safety as a top priority, and motivated to do research. A level of independency is required.
