Dr. Ehab F. El-Saadany is an IEEE Fellow for his contributions in distributed generation planning, operation and control. He was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1964. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1986 and 1990, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 1998, where he was a Professor with the ECE Department till 2019.
Currently, he is a Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Director of the Advanced Power and Energy Research Center (APEC) at Khalifa University, UAE.
Dr. El-Saadany is an Internationally recognized expert in the area of sustainable energy integration and smart distribution systems. His research interests include smart grid operation and control, microgrids, self-healing, Cyber-Physical security of smart grids, protection, power quality, distributed generation and transportation electrification. He is an Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SMART GRID, the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER SYSTEMS, and IEEE Power Systems Letters. He is Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Dr. El-Sadaany has graduated 30 Ph.D. and 22 M.Sc. students and published 450+ international journal and conference papers. He is an internationally recognized expert in Distribution Systems with Scopus H-Index 64 and over 16,650 citations. Dr. El-Saadany is a recipient of two Canada Research Chair awards for his contributions to Energy Systems and Distributed Generation. He is also the recipient of Khalifa Award for Distinguished faculty professor in 2021.
